The apartment is located on Plaza de la Paja, one of the most attractive squares in the La Latina district, at the heart of "Madrid de los Austrias" (Habsburg's Madrid). In the 12th century this square used to be Madrid's marketplace. Nowadays, it is a pleasant tree-lined square surrounded by historical buildings, such as the Capilla del Obispo and the Church of San Andrés.

The charm of staying in this area is that you will feel as if you were staying in a small village. Wander around the narrow, winding streets and you will find many beautiful squares, churches, terrazas, and small restaurants. You will not feel as if you were in a large metropolis, yet at the same time you will be within walking distance of Madrid's key attractions: the Royal Palace (5 minutes), Plaza Mayor (7 minutes), and Sol (10 minutes).

Right on Plaza de la Paja you will find several restaurants and bars with open air terrazas, which particularly during the summer get crowded with Madrileños enjoying a drink or dining. In fact, La Latina ` is one Madrid's best dining areas, where traditional tabernas coexist alongside trendy bars and fashionable new restaurants.
